The BBC will bleed Ekurhuleni and its residents dry

It is shocking that the ANC-led Coalition government in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) insists on beating a dead horse in the form of the Brakpan Bus Company (BBC).
The BBC has been a dysfunctional and failing enterprise for years now as it has yielded no returns for the City since its inception. Yet, the City’s purse keeps bleeding at the detriment of the residents of Ekurhuleni.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni fails to understand why the ANC and its Coalition partners have not put an end to this Badly Broken Company (BBC). The reality is that the BBC does not have functional buses to generate an income. Furthermore, the existing buses are dilapidated. This means it is not feasible to continue entertaining the BBC’s Financial and Performance Results because, for years, the entity has constantly failed to generate an income.
The CoE’s current financial status shows a municipality in financial cardiac arrest, but the failing ANC-led Coalition will continue to keep failing enterprises like the BBC afloat, at the expense of much-needed service delivery.
One wonders why the ANC Coalition insists on keeping this entity afloat when it is clear that it is nothing but a liability. Who is really benefiting from the BBC?
The DA demands that the ANC Coalition government urgently account to the residents of Ekurhuleni and take the necessary steps to stop the gross waste of money on an entity that is clearly not financially viable.
